Hello everyone!
I don't use After effects too much, but I had this important project, and I spent about 45 hours working on it until this happened.
One of the causes could be that I had about 500 layers of photos and film inside the project. I am working on AE CC 2019 currently.
So here is what happened:
I dragged in a new clip, as always. But suddenly AE gave me the overflow 17 § 19 message, and then a message that said "strange situation". I waited before I clicket it away... and noticed that the new layer didnt say it was the 589th or so, but the number was -214.
Its obviously impossible to have a minus number of layers.
Then I closed the file, duplicated it and reopened to check again.
The cut material is still playable, but I can only view 1/6 of the layers I had, all others are gone, invisible or whatever. I found out about the 'shy' layers, but I clicked and unclicked that option, and nothing happens.
I also tried reducing the exsisting layers in undercompositions, but the lower layers just dont appear.
Other people with that problem said it was teh autocontrast or a file that needed to be removed, but as soon as I tried anything what they said, my AE immediately crashed.
My solution for now is that I try exporting my material as good as I can, and start a new project with the rendered file. Also I couldnt connect AE to the Media Encoder while having this buggy file open, so I had to render out a 300 GB Quicktime file in order to have it work out.
Can anyone tell me what it could be?
