Hi gutterfish, yes the text is white with some maybe black elements I'm assuming coming from the black drop shadow.

Hey Rick, thanks for the comment.

Rick Gerard

I think you are pasting the corner pin data to the wrong layer. If you apply corner pin to the new logo it will move it into the right shape to fit the boundaries of the original sign.

If I paste the corner pin data to the new logo layer, unfortunately, it will not move it to the right place. If I do that, it will shrink the new logo layer because it is smaller than the comp size to start off with. My understanding is the point of the precomp in my workflow is so that I can do whatever I want within the precomp and the main comp won't be changed. This way the tracking data applied to the precomp stays perfect. Within the precomp, as long as the logo is full screen, it will work. If it isn't full screen in the precomp, it'll end up being smaller than it should be on the main, making a bad composite. In your example, you mentioned you tracked the entire side of the UPS truck, but your logo is much smaller than it, and inside the precomp, it's also much smaller than the comp, which makes sense and will work. In mine, the area tracked is the entire sign that only fills up a bit of the full frame (So that's similar to yours), HOWEVER, the logo I'm using needs to be the full size of the precomp, in order to match the tracked data area. This is where yours is different, your logo doesn't need to match the size of the tracking data, it needs to be just a smaller size in the precomp and it'll work perfect.

In other words, the tracking data needs to be on a precomp AND within that precomp, the logo needs to be the full comp size in order for it to composite perfectly on the main comp. That was probably confusing, but it's so hard to explain, and I know I'm not making it easy by not sharing footage, but I can't, so I don't think we'll be able to get to a conclusion here haha.

Try the Mesh Warp or Bezier Warp effects. Possibly even the simple Corner Pin might suffice. You may just need to cut up the separate planes by duplicating and masking layers.

I'm sorry, but you've written a lot, but literally told us nothing, most importantly no such thing as exact output and render settings, system info, stuff involved in your compositions, screenshots. That aside, most of AE's issues can't be saved with hardware, so any considerations about expensive hardware upgrades are probably utterly moot. It really comes down to knowing what you exactly do and employing some smarts to work around quirks and bugs, tweak settings etc..

Start by updating your graphics drivers, checking their settings and similalrly checking the relevant hardware acceleration settings in AE.

Also try to stop GPU accelerator, go to File->Project settings->video rendering and effects->Mercury  software only

Hello everyone, i have a problem that i cannot find any info and google this problem and dont know how to solve it. The shape lines has shadow effect and seems like they is corrupted or something, but sometimes its draw perfectly. If anyone knows how to solve this problem i would be thankful.

Of course, but in this case it is the fastest way "Fit to comp"

The 'fastest way' is to simply change the output resolution in the Media Encoder window.

Trapcode Particular does not react to After Effects' camera

Hello friends,

I have encountered a strange issue with the new (most recent) version of Trapcode Suite. The Trapcode Particular particles don't react to the camera. This wasn't happening with the previous version. Does anybody of you know why is this happening? Do I do something wrong?

I am attaching a YouTube Link of an explanatory video I've made about this issue, so you can see for yourselves.

Achieving Need For Speed Green Screen Effect

Hello  All,

How was  the live action Green Screen Footage in EA's Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005) made to look like cg and match the game play footage how can this be  achieved. I can not grasp how it was done....

Any Advice will be much appreciated.....

Nothing wrong here or corrupted. You need to read up what antialaising is and how it is affected by sub-pixel positioning. Start by checking your shape properties and make sure bothe the path size and position actually use full pixel values, not fractions.

Just some very aggressive color corrections, including possibly harsh contrast adjustments and quantizations with threshold-based filters. Nothing unusual here, it just takes experience.

Could be that they've changed the internal camera handling. In this case you may need to create an explicit camera layer. Otherwise those could be issues with their hardware-accelerated rendering, to which the usual drill of updating and checking your graphics drivers might be the answer.

I've pointed out several times, your workflow is incorrect. There is no bug, you are just not using the correct workflow.

You do not apply corner pin to the replacement logo unless the replacement logo is on a layer that has the same frame size as the tracked footage. If the replacement logo layer has transparency the frame size still needs to match the frame size of the original footage. If your original footage is 1920 X 1080, the logo layer must be 1920 X 1080. A shape layer always has the same frame size as the comp. The frame size of any layer changes when you scale the layer so Corner Pin tracking data should never be applied to a scaled layer.

Let me simplify this. This is the proper workflow to replace a sign using a simple corner pin track:

  1. Trim the layer to one frame before the sign enters the frame and one frame after the sign leaves the frame
  2. Open that trimmed shot in Mocha to perform corner pin tracking making sure the surface is sized properly to include everything you want to replace
  3. Create a replacement sign in a comp or using Photoshop or Illustrator using a canvas that is the same frame size as the original footage - do not distort any of the components of the sign
  4. Put the replacement sign above the footage
  5. Apply Corner Pin to the replacement sign in the main comp.

That's all there is to it. If your logo is in a pre-comp you do not apply corner pin to anything in the pre-comp. Corner pin is only applied in the main comp. There should be no layer in your logo comp that has any distortion applied to it.  If this is a shot of your pre-comp then that is where the mistake is made.

Screenshot+003.png

The blue layer should be a rectangle the same height or same width as the original footage.

If you want to apply corner pin inside the nested comp then you have to group all of the undistorted layers in the pre-comp and apply corner pin to them all. You can do that with an adjustment layer on top of all of the undistorted layers in the pre-comp.

I use Particular and I don't know about any changes in camera handling (for me camera worked and works as it should with particular ver 4.0) so I recomend you to the second part of what Mylenium sais - check and update your GPU drivers and let us know it that helped.

I don't see any change in the behavior. This is from 2 minutes ago. Add particular, add a camera with a short lens so it will be very close to the emitter, edit the camera's zoom value see if the particles react to the camera. They do.

If you get no reaction then something is wrong with your workflow or your effect is not up to date or some preference got corrupted.

And, of course great professional ggreen screen studio and good camera to capture that. As for technique of look alike CGI you can try to use some cartoonizer or something similar effects.

You need to mathematically line up thin lines with the pixel grid. Comp frame size should always be even numbers. If you use a 1 pixel stroke and you animate the position you WILL be in trouble unless the movement is exactly an even number of pixels per frame because the line will appear to flicker as it moves. A 2-pixel line will give you a little more freedom. If you are drawing rectangles you need to take into account that a stroke applied to a rectangle is centered on the edge so to line up a rectangle with a 1-pixel stroke the size either needs to be in half pixels or the position needs to be offset by a half pixel. On a shape layer, there is basically nothing you can do but be mathematically correct or set the layer quality to draft. If you set the layer to draft then you face the possibility that a one-pixel thick line will change to two pixels as it moves. You just have to design and animate with the pixel grid limitations in mind.
