How do I change my timeline display back to seconds instead of frames? I perfer to work with seconds. I have a googled and a couple things I Have tried have not worked. Thanks!

Ctrl + click on either of hte time displays. Keep in mind that if you zoom all the way into your timeline it will display frames regardless of your settings..

I have tried that and it appears to look like the time line went back to seconds in the display but it stills says frames on the timeline?

2019 - perpetual running icon on cursor/sluggish performance
I opened 2019 after installing, and the circular "running" icon over the pointer keeps flashing and there is a horrible delay when clicking on anything. It seems this version has some growing pains from looking at other posts - just wondering if this specific thing is happening to other people and if there has been any resolutions that I may have missed in searching?

I am encountering this error on a brand new mac book pro when running simple effects like drop shadow or pixel sorter. This latest version of AE has been extremely buggy and practically un-usable.

And that is the reason to go back to AE 2018 and use it untill Adobe fix those bugs.

After Effects, Animation mit zwei keyingflächen auf zwei Layer?
Hallo,
Ich erstelle gerade eine Animation mit After Effects und habe ein Problem. Ich mache eine Animation für einen Videoadventskalender wo sich eine Tür öffnet. Die Animation mit der Tür hat eine Greenscreen fläche außen (für den Hintergrund) und eine Bluescreen Fläche für den inneren Teil. Wie kann ich den Bluescreen auf eine andere Ebene verlinken als auf die direkt darunterliegende Ebene?

There are some issue with that release. But what you are describing happens when you have opened and docked some scripts/panels. For sure Motion Factory (earlier version) will do that.
So if you have that script/plugin - just close that panel or uninstal plugin.

Have you tried using the Overlord plugin, from Battle Axe? It's really great for going back and forth between Ai and Ae, though I'm running into a similar issue as you.
In my case, I'm sending lines from Ae back to Ai, but Ai isn't recognizing the rotation angle from Ae. I want to be able to rotate my lines in Ae and 'reset bounding box' so that after rotation the angle goes back to 0º. Then when I send them to Ai the lines would be at the correct angle.
Long story short, the client wants a Ai file of one frame of an animation, so I need to easily send everything back to Ai. Ugh.

Lucky you. I am in High Sierra and the update killed audio, glitchy on and off during RAM preview. Have tried different buffer settings to no avail. I think the caching has changed again, as I am now getting much shorter previews, if any. bring on the .1 updates (and get me off this mac)

Reshape Distortion Effect
I am not an expert at Ae and am just trying to learn the program better. Following a tutorial on a morph effect using Reshape effect I have to paths on my images and looking to set my source mask and destination mask and an my comp window goes black and I get an error saying:

Yes and it will reapear. Chceck what version do you have installed and let me know. I'm asking because if i remember corectly version 2.4 works without any issues in AE 2019

Yep they got rid of Finesse in thist release. In changelog we can read:
- After Effects does not include the Synthetic Aperture Color Finesse plug-in.

Nothing in my week old AE file; file is still here but nothing in it
I created a file last week after I updated to AE CC 19.
Auto save is on.
I exported files, saved and closed.
Opened it yesterday and made some changes; saved; closed; opened for more changes; saved and closed. No problems at all.
Today I get to the office and open the project. It immediately prompts me to convert to AE 2019. I get confused but hit the button to continue.
After is saved to a converted format the only thing left in the file is empty folders. No images, no footage, no compositions, nothing.
I have searched my computer for back up, crash logs, auto saves. I have even opened the converted file started the motions to export to see if it will bring open the path and reveal where a back up may be and nothing.
Also note that I am on an iMac Pro and it has been restored to factory settings within the last two weeks and started fresh so I don't see it being any issue with my machine. I have checked and double checked auto-save settings, and before someone recommends it; I am very good friends with "apple S" and my auto-save is set to every 15 minutes.
This makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Any suggestions? I am already in the know that I will have to do my project again but I want to prevent this in the future.

After Effects AE CC 2019 v16.0 crashes on startup
I've had multiple issues with this version of AE. It was crashing when I opened v15 files so I uninstalled it, but now I need to open v16 files created by other people. It was going alright for a few days but now AE crashes as soon as I launch it - without even opening a project.
I uninstalled and reinstalled it and the problem persists. I now have an unusable copy of v16.0
Can anyone help?
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.14.1 (18B75)
Model: MacBookPro14,3, BootROM 185.0.0.0.0, 4 processors, Intel Core i7, 2.9 GHz, 16 GB, SMC 2.45f0
Graphics: Radeon Pro 560, Radeon Pro 560, PCIe
Update: by uninstalling v15 as well as v16 I was able to reinstall both and they're working so far. I will leave this thread up in case other people have the same issue.

Yes. You can reset AE preferences. To do that you have to press and hold
- Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
- Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS)
during AE starting up.

Re: Select ALL Keyframes in a Composition
I had the same question in mind and found this useful! This might not be an instant solution but it did made my life easier. Just do SHIFT + Click and drag the mouse through your layers. All keyframes inside the box will automatically be selected. scroll down or up (wherever your other layers are) and do the same: shift + drag mouse through layers. Is not as fast as a one time command but this is enough to save me time for now!
