Searching for an effect plugin that shows error message (e.g. no license) if you try to render

Hi

I want to test some batch rendering issues and I am searching for an effect plugin that shows an error message if you try to render a comp.

For example a message that asks for a serial or registration.

I found some effect plugins, but they all render a red cross and do not show any message.

thanks,

The red X means the software is not licensed. Other error messages depend on the software (plug-in) that is being used. Unless a crash log is generated or a Render Cue error log has been created and saved there is no way to isolate those effects. Even if you did find them and remove them, you would still get an error that tells you that an effect is missing.

If you have licenses and you want to re-install then run the installers again and follow the licensing instructions. Otherwise, it is just going to take opening up comps and looking for unlicensed plug-ins.

Which would be the best build for After Effects? The AMD Threadripper 2050x or I9-9900x route?

Approximate Purchase Date:

ASAP subject to hard decision making and as these are £300 over budget and right before Christmas it may have to wait a bit, was hoping to get this done for Balck Friday /Cyber Monday

      Follwing the requested format....

Budget Range:

(In UK so pounds) £2750 - £3000 was the ideal, especailly with Christmas and no cash after next week till 21st dec comming up. But all the advise Im getting is pushing me over to around £3350. If Possible want it back down. but may hvae to go up to this figure.

System Usage from Most to Least Important:

CAD for modelling, 3d Printing and visual, Editing, Rendering, Encoding, 3d Animation, Graphics, Podcasting, whilst watching downloaded tv shows, lots open at once usually 2 screens plus, maybe some games but tend to avoid as then dont get other stuff done.

Software to include:

Rhino with V-ray Rendering and various addon ons,

Solidworks with Key Shot Rendering... Want also to try Maxwell Render

Adobe Premier and After Effects, ideally things like green screen work

        Podcasting experiments with Adobe Audition

Are you buying a monitor:

Not yet... tryin to keep down budget, can get later will use my ultra hi def 40" Samsung TV for moment till can get a 2nd or 3rd monitor/

Also planning on getting/building a raid 1 mirror pair of Seagate Barracuda Pro 4 tb drives when I get the cash later and online storage backup.

Do you need to buy OS:

      Already in the build

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:

At the moment been looking to have a custom build at PC Specialist. Whilst have dealth with replacing hard drives, DVD drives, Graphics Tablets, RAM, software before etc am soewhat nervous about ***ing up the processor, power and motherboard and around £3000 thats some expensive balls ups. But am curious how much I could save and where I could go for parts or suppliers with better deals. Most likely with some supervision help would do OK by wary of risk as no fall back cash.

Also concerned about warrantees given how much computers go wrong.

Parts Preferences: Everyoen has said to go for the quadro 4000 as opposed to 2000 and mostly been pushed away from more powerful Games card to more accurate Quadro cards thouhs is there a difference between Nvida and PNY?

Overclocking:

Maybe Never done it and looking for somethging long lastign and reliable not burn out and replace.

SLI or Crossfire:

Maybe future, Im struggling to get this so onus grpahcis cards are not on cars for a long time but would like the option in the future

Your Monitor Resolution:

Not relevant at present will look into secondary montirs later

Additional Comments:

Quieter PC preferred. Whilst a cool looker is welcomed thats not its primary purpose to show off to mates, plus its in my bedroom, a disco light if left to render at night is not good for sleep.

What is important is expanadability, being able to fit things like water coolers, bluetooth, , easy to maintain, speed reliability, long lasting upgrading later etc.

As said trying to get budget down, ( or AMD Threadripper routes, thying to get the balance. Which of the software is single core above)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:

been held back a year and a half when I took down my portfolio as website host was extrosionist just before by i5 laptop went down perminentaly and it took months to recover much of my wrks, then monots broke then been stuck using a parents I3 laptop... Looking to get at proper grown up workstation that can do things quick and efficient.

Hi Rick

Imac 27", Late 2013, 3.4 Ghz Core i5

Mac OS 10.12.6

NVIVIA Geforce GTX 775M

AE 2014 or 2019

I am working on a 2D project, multi layer.  Very heavy.

I read your answer uphere and I went on C4D website.  I just found a website where they sell a 3D animation program (Cinema 4D).

I did not find a driver called C$D that i could add to my Mac.

Now, the questions are :

1-would you know which Cuda driver is the one that could fit in my set up?  How to find it?

2-Does this C4D is a driver that I could add to my Mac OS 12.5.6? (Sierra)

2-Do you know any ather driver that could fit my set up and accelarate the rendering?  where?

Thank you very much

Simon

Thank you, you may be right. I have an old mac air.. but I yet have not figured out how to open on my mac 4k without downscaling.

I did read the post. There are dozens if not hundreds that show a message. There is no automatic way of figuring out what effect is causing the problem. You have to look manually.

I just downloaded after effects and I am keep getting this warning that cached preview needs 2 or more frames to play back. Also my video does not play the whole thing. Can anyone help me out?

I'm not a mac user and when Adobe got rid of QT support I also deleted QT player and i use VLC (also avaliable on mac) but on windows there was setting how to show actual size and on mac if i'm not mistaken it would be Command+1 or some other combination from Command 0 to command3

Hi the problem is probably the work area bars are too close together hence your problem

You need to space them out.

Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 10.00.19 PM.png

Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 10.00.47 PM.png

Move them away from each other. This will solve the problem

Thats known as the work area bar. Ones at the beginning and one at the end.

What they are there for is e.g. you want to RAM  preview a few seconds or a portion of something on the layer. You would set the start and end work bars within that region and it will give you a RAM preview and then loop infinitely so you can see what you wanted to preview. It also lets you render out whatever between those 2 areas for final output.

Trust this helps

Mo

Thank you!

This is the result...

A lot of lost frames. Could you please explain, how to understand this with regard to my problem?

Post a screenshot of the Codec Detail not Statistics. The statics is for when you engage playback and VLC is buffering frames so no need to bee too concerned about. I need to see the CODEC details

So far so good. Now for the last step. Can you show me your render output settings.

Please send as many screengrabs as possible to cover all areas of the options

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but as I see in comp that you shared with us you have 3 compositions with 3 parts of a video that you previously cut and rerendered in different software. My question is why not just put one long original clip and just cut/shorten it in AE to desirable length in separate pre compositions - as you did with your already splitted footage.
Maby I'm not understanding your workflow correctly so please clarify that ... maby there is just better way to do that.

The files that I shared with you are only for demo purpose to explain the issue I'm facing. I haven't shared the actual files I'm working on. But they are captured with the same camera and cut with the same 3rd party software and edited in the same AE version.

My workflow is as follows:

1) I captured a very long file for a big event (approx. 3hrs divided into 6 big files (30mins each)).

2) My task is to re-watch carefully these 6 big files and cut the most important part to achieve final output file of 45secs.

3) for the cutting, I found it difficult to set the IN and out of my cut in AE. each small change it requires rendering the timeline and takes a lot of time. this is why i searched for alternative for the cutting the important small clips only without any editing. This software Bandicut  did the cutting job perfectly, only after this issue now Im thinking  to change it too.

4) After i got all my important clips ready, then i start editing them in AE and add my touches and animation to get the best presentation. Here,  I do not need to focus on cut/shorten the big files in AE to desirable length in separate pre compositions.

so this is the whole story. I believe almost all radiographers are following the same concept  but with different ways.
