Ok, I've just try to put a horizontal guide with a new project and it doesn't happen no more…

So it came from the file.

Sorry for disturb, thanks for time !

But if you import your "corrupted" composition into new one you will and should have access to your tracking data and everything that you did in original comp.

Well, are you already try this button to quarter? And you can try these ray button to Wireframe too.PhotoEditor_20181203_101718886.jpg

Re: After Effects only uses one core for rendering! Can anyone solve this.

I still remember when after efffects used to have a feature called "Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously". It used multiple cores to render different portions of the timeline and it made substantially faster to render previews and scrud through the timeline.

For whatever reason, Adobe removed this feature from AE in 2014 or 2015.

The priority for Adobe should be to bring back this feature. I mean it.

All of this just makes me wish there was some real competition for AE out there. Maybe Serif or Autodesk could seize the opportunity?

Serif already makes great alternatives to Photoshop and Illustrator and they don't force to get a montly subscription (i.e. extorsion).

Honestly, Adobe shouldn't be able to get away with this. In the past few years their updates have mainly consisted of publicity stunts with no real benefit for Pro users.

Dears,

After update AE on my Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) 3,5 GHz Intel Core i5 After Effects just been frozen. Literally nothing happen. No any reaction to open any file to import etc. Only show a white window with no message in it.

Please advise how to install previous version of AE that is working and open files. Just working.

Thank you

Nadya

I have the same problem here!

For the second time this year, I will now spend the morning un-installing and re-installing a previous version in order to complete my work.

I might try to stabilize the shots in Premiere and import later.

Is it the type of media?

Pre comp changes timing on layers

When I work with all layers, the timing/easing is fine. As soon as I pre comp the layers, they seem to shift in time or possibly the easing goes off slightly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Thank you.

Might be worth Adobe cleansing Adobe Stock of videos using unsupported consumer-level Quicktime codecs to avoid future issues.

Re: 2019.1 Create Editable Text Crashing half the time

Thanks. I checked this link. There are only two fonts in the doc, and it works and crashes with both of them.  It also works and crashes within the same psd.

I forgot to include that I'm using this on my Win10 computer in case it's relevant.

The last post in the link OussK provided, from a user, claims the crash does not occur when the Command to Change to Editable Text is selected via the AE's main menu - the crash occurs when using right-click on the PS Text Layer. Can you confirm these?

System Requirements help

Hi all

First time poster with very limited knowledge of system requirements etc so would love to hear from an expert or two.

I am a training manager for the company I work for and specialise in producing elearning courses. I primarily use a programme called Articualate Storyline but more and more I am using AE and Premiere to create our own content.

I find AE is very slow on my current machine. I especially suffer from buffering during previews. I've been looking at how I can change my own settings etc to improve performance as I am sure I can do better there. But I have also convinced the company to get me a more powerful machine. I've been asked if the following will work well. I've looked at the minimum system requirements but if someone wouldn't mind casting an eye, any advice would be appreciated as I am outside my comfort zone!

CPU: i7-8750H – 6 core

RAM: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz (we upgraded it from 8 that it says below)

Storage: 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Graphics: Nvidia 1050Ti 4GB

apologies for the basic question but thanks in advance for any advice

In fact, AE uses all CPU cores and even GPU, but it highly depends on the project, fx, plugins and workflow.

When I see that you are rendering directly into H265 on the Xeon @2GHz I really wondering what you did expect to happen?

Does Xeon CPU support hardware accelerated H265 de- and encoding anyway? I thought that's a feature of latest i-series CPUs only.

Also, a 2GHz CPU for AE is completely the wrong piece of hardware. I recommend at least 4GHz, the higher the better. You'll find nice test on https://www.pugetsystems.com/recommended/Recommended-Systems-for-Adobe-After-Effects-CC-14 4/Hardware-Recommendations#CPU

Note that Xeon's are not even mentioned ...

Also, rendering into a video file is not very safe or smart. What when your computer crashes right now? What if you have to change a little asset which appears only for 10 frames at the end? You'll have to start all over... !

It's way better to render into PNGs image sequence. You can use scripts like BG Renderer or RenderGarden to utilize all of your RAM and CPU resources. (But in your case, you won't benefit much from all your cores - when only AE is running and 33% are already used, you can start 2 more renderer and that's it. Running out of RAM increases rendering times in large amounts.).

And you can easily react to changes and mistakes, without the need of rendering everything all over again.

@jebi80938952

Multiprocess rendering will never come back to AE again. AFAIK it was buggy and dropped for that reason. Also - as you can see with the use of scripts like RG Renderer or RenderGarden - it eats you all your RAM very soon, limiting you in spawning more processes. Every process need its own memory address range and data. But if you have an asset in every part of your comp, this asset will be loaded multiple times into RAM to be available for all rendering processes. This is nonsense.

The future will be multi-threaded and Adobe is already working on it. But this is a slow process: Adobe needs to ensure to not break the software, while keeping it alive by adding features.

In the meantime, we are lucky and can use 3rd party software to fill the gap, thanks to a wide API. That's not common with major software and I'm missing it in most other programs I'm using.

Aww shame! I hope they release something like that But is there no get around for the time being then?

I recommend a desktop pc rather than a laptop.

- Highest clock speed you can afford, core count doesn't matter so much (4 cores at 5GHz are preferred over 6 cores at 3,2 GHz, for example).

- At least 16 GB RAM, 32 are better, option to 64 is preferred.

- 1 SSD for OS and software, 1 SSD for AE cache, 1 SSD/HDD for data. Use M.2 SSDs if you can, they are way faster then normal SSDs.

- GPU doesn't matter much, hardly used by AE at the moment, I would take one of the 10-series (1030 up to 1080) just to have an up-to-date model.

Check the "collapse transformation" setting on the new comp-layer.

Oh Damn!

There it is. I found a layer that crashed when i right clicked the layer, it did, i rebooted and tried the Layer Menu, and boom, worked right away. Very strange, thank you so much for punching through this with me guys!

Re: AE to AME export Color Control - Fill effect problem

Hi Cedric.

Do you know a script that could help me replace all the ("color") by (1), or do I have to do it manually?

I think "DUIK" should help you with the replacement, however I think there are more lightweight scripts for this.

Adobe, you are still do not respect your regular customers. We are talking about the problem for two months and you have not done anything for us.No wonder that many editors are switching to Davinci Resolve or FCP X - which are not included in the subscription.Adobe - Shame!
