Nevermind. It just occurred to me whether or not AE even supports surround sound. I searched the help and discovered it does not.
I'm not exactly sure how surround sound functions in headphones so maybe it's not true surround sound and it could work.
So basically confirm that your headphones are working by installing any required drivers and setting computers audio preferences to in fact USE those drivers to drive audio. If you're not sure how to do that check the instructions that came the headphones to learn how to set them up. If you then fire up AE and there is no sound then it's because AE does not support surround sound. Audition does, so maybe test it there.

My After Effects is crashing unexpectedly
When trying to edit videos, my after effects will freeze and then close without "After Effects has stopped responding". It just closes and nothing pops up. It never used to do this until recently. Is there anything I could do to fix this? I use After Effects CC2019 (CC2018 does the same thing).

Oh I think that's a caching thing. It may be full. Try going to Edit>Purge> all memory & cache. Also you're not going to able to watch your whole video at full resolution. Depending on how much RAM you have you might want switch to half or third resolution if your going to try and watch several minutes of video and you're still probably going to get some slow down. After Effects is made for dealing with quick "shots" for adding effects and such, not for editing video so you can't really preview long stretches of video especially at full res. You should be using Premier for that. When you run out of RAM and your cache is full AE will just repeat what it's already cached. I think that's what's going on.

AE Repeated crash when I change my workspace due to Adobe Color Theme extension
Hello all,
I use the After Effect CC version 16. I used the Extension "Adobe color Theme" for the first time. And whatever way I use to close this panel lead to AE crash. So I decided to let this panel displayed. But the panel top color is white and I can't insert this panel in the workspace, it is floating here and I have to move it according which area I want to look in my interface. It's like if I have a window here alone and impossible to close it because it lead to Adobe crash.
The problem is that if I want to change my workspace which is set to Default, Adobe crashs to due to the fact (I think) by changing my workspace, this panel is close by the app.
I'm new in after effect, and I feel I get married with this "Adobe Them color" windows" and we'll be always together in the "DEFAULT " workspace. Sorry for my english... hope someone will help

The answer given as the "Correct Answer" is NOT the correct answer. That answer is for Premiere and other applications, not After Effects. It may be helpful, but it doesn't slve the problem given in the title, "CUDA issues in After Effects CC 2018 on MacOS". AFTER EFFECTS. Not Premiere. Even the screenshot is from Premiere, not AAE. As this problem persists with AE2019, it should remain open and with an unanswered status.

how to get elastic effect or slight shaky effect when sidebar fully open? like in this tutorial.
I am quite 20 days new to after effect. I have been trying myself to learn this jelly opening sidebar but i am unable to get the sleek finishing. Any suggestion would be welcome.

Здравствуйте. Я из России и пишу через переводчик. У меня следущая проблема, которая не позволяет мне пользоватся приложениями Adobe. Любое линейное перемещение обьекта после рендера после воспроизведения прирывается,в разных местах иногда прерывается иногда нет. Это возникает после рендера в приложения after effect and Adobe Premiere. Пробывал делать видеов 30 и 60 кадрах, применял эфект motionblur Не помогло, самое главное все тоже самое на других ноутбуках macos and win. Возможно можите подсказать в чем дело?
Hello. I am from Russia and I am writing through a translator. I have the following problem that does not allow me to use Adobe applications. Audio Multi layered MOGRT
Hi all, I've been trying to create a MOGRT that contains within itself around 10 different audios with a -15 dB gain, so I can have them there as a frequently used tool and not having to import them and doing the whole process over and over. (Let's say 10 wooshes contained within one single MOGRT that I'll have available easily)
I tried and tried and can't find a way to do it and TBH I'm quite new in the "Expressions" world, If you could help me, it'll mean the world!
this is the main comp: Audios
A precomposition has been created (files) containing 10 audios, and Slider Control effect has been added with this expression:
Math.floor(clamp(value, min=1, max=10));
on the motion graphics panel the Range has been edited to match the 10 layers contained.
Within the "files" precomp, there're 10 audio layers, and on the first one is this expression in Audio Levels:
if(comp("audios").layer("files").effect("Slider Control")("Slider")==1)-10; else -100
the -10; else-100 is because I need the audios to be -10dB when selected and -100 to be complete silence.
-- I always end up with this error and have no idea of what to do...

Re: AEGP_AddCompToRenderQueue doesn't accept unicode paths
I totally would, but our plugin could be running on the machine of a customer whose name
(and therefore home directory contains unicode characters, like e.g. c:\users\šomename), and so any path their AE instance has permissions to write to already contains the problematic characters.
I've played around with the idea of converting to the old school DOS-mode directory names, but this has to work on Mac as well eventually, and so I'm not confident that'll work in the long run.

Hi,
you get this error because the audio levels is a parameter that needs 2 values (one for the left channel and one for the right channel).
It's not clear, because the parameter only shows one gain value, which it will apply automatically on both channels.
To fix your expression you just need to change your value -10, into a table of 2 values [-10,-10]. So it should work like this:
if(comp("audios").layer("files").effect("Slider Control")("Slider")==1)[-10,-10]; else [-100,-100]

This is something silly, do not get struggling with it, better redesign the bubbles straight into the AE! Create a rectangle with round edges then expand the layer and increase the roundness, will look the same!

To hear the audio you need to do a RAM preview. For a RAM preview, you need to click the rightmost symbol in the Preview panel. Alternatively, hit the 0 key on your number pad.

Does you headphones output ANY sound at all from any player like VLC etc?
Thats the first step. The surround sound does not matter. If its a surround headphone and you are listening to a stereo output it will still output to 2 channels.
This problem has nothing to do with surround sound at all.

Additionally, please expand Components > Display from the System Information window so that we can see the version of video driver that is installed in your machine. I suspect it to be a problem with the video driver.
You can try downloading and installing an update to the Intel video driver here: Download Legacy Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10
