I went to composition -> Add to media encoder queue. Then I chose my output settings. But when i did that, you know how on the side there is a preview. Well the preview was my source I used for the template to work.

Re: AE Repeated crash when I change my workspace due to Adobe Color Theme extension
Unfortunately, there is a bug in the latest version of AE (16.0.1) with workspaces and docking extensions. This isn't unique to the Color Themes panel, it will happen if you have any third-party extensions installed as well, such as Magic Bullet Colorista, Flow, Overlord, etc.
The easiest way to get back to your Default workspace is to reset your preferences: Reset After Effects Preferences
You can also go to the preferences folder and trash a few specific files there. Let me know if you're interested in that, otherwise trashing your preferences and rebuilding them is potentially a simpler option.

Corrupt after effects file - won´t open
I have an after effects comp that I saved two weeks ago. When I try to re-open the file, it will not load. Just the wheel spinning. No error message. Any suggestions? (Latest AE installed on latest OSX) No changes or updates since I made it.

VR Questions - Alpha Channel and compositing
Hi Folks, I need to output some animations inside a VR footage from after effects to the editor ( premiere ) and could not find the solution for:
- Export with alpha so file exchange will be faster. Any chance to put the alpha animation on top of the raw VR footage on the edit?
- I need to have an animation always onscreen, like when someone put the VR headset, animations will show in/out like Iron Man helmet (HUD graphics)

Re: Having a mask on a video layer pan on a static picture layer
I am looking to remove the testing hardware that is attached to the machine in this image. In the lower screen shot I am able to properly mask the hardware with video details from a second segment. However, as you can see in the top screen shot the image in the mask does not change as the video progresses so the details captured by the original mask just move up the image as the equipment rises. By using a tracker I am able to get the mask to move properly as the equipment rises but I want the material that is shown in the mask to change as the mask pans upward.

It takes a lot of time to learn how to animate realistic squash and stretch. Digging into the graph editor and watching some good tutorials is the first place to start. Type Graph Editor in the Search Help field at the top right corner of AE and start with the User Guide. Those kinds of dynamic animations are not automatic or easy to do until you have a lot of practice.

So I took you advice and re-imported the cup and copied the keyframes into it, but now I'm running into a new problem where my cup dissapears and the fill for the graphic shows up on the top left corner. I don't know whether or not this problem is related to the inadvisable boundary that previously cut off my steam.

I find it difficult to believe the problem is your files or setup as I used them and everything was fine.
I think something in your system memory became corrupted and is stuck in a memory cache.
I would first try emptying your cache folder manually (sometimes the auto clean fails to remove everything).
Just go into the folder you've designated as the cache and delete everything in it.
Then reboot your system. If the problem is still there try starting a brand new project and building the scene from scratch.
I mean just the AE project. There's nothing wrong with your illustrator files.
For those interested in how your project is set up they should just download the files you provided and test them.

I just had a thought of a more automatic way to do something like this. You could have a bunch of nulls, tie them to each other via some sort of expressions with springy-ness, and then use them to define mask points.
Newton is a third-party solution for creating dynamics that would also do well at making the nulls move in a springy way.

Do you mean Just the cup shape itself? Because the cup as a whole is divided up in multiple layers. There's not just one layer for the cup.
I believe I did import it as a comp while retaining the layer size.
Yeah I've been looking at every single layer and can not find this line or whatever is blocking my steam graphic.
I'll attach a link to both files in case anyone wants to take a look.
The ramen graphic is one artboard, but the steam, water, and the cup peeling off was done in AE.
Thanks for your tip about the vector sizes! I didn't know that. Most of the lines on my ramen graphic is 3 pixels. Although I'm not sure about my text.

So here are the comp setting specifically for the ramen cup. The size of the comp is 1920 by 1080. I imported in from Illustrator as a composition while retaining the layer size.
I also found out that you should convert the Illustrator layers into shape layers. which is what I did today.
Everything is on one artboard on Illustrator separated into different layers for each general shape. Although, because each shape has different vectors on it, there are additional layers underneath making up each layer. Would it more complicated to redistribute every single sub layer into its own layer?

VC FAQ Troubleshooting guide recommends doing a clean install of GPU drivers. Also for your specific error it recommends verifying your CPU supports SSE 4.1 which you've already done (you said 4.2 but I guess that's just as good) & updating to the latest version of ORB Have you tried that?
If all that fails then as has been said, contact VC. Taking your problem directly to them might be very valuable to them as they might identify a new bug or something that they need to fix.

Unfortunately I don't. I can remember only two occasions where I had to do a system reboot to fix some inexplicable graphical error. I've had a few more instances where an application reboot fixed a problem.
