If you are talking timeline then just holding the Alt/Option key and two finger drag (or equivalent with a mouse) will zoom in and out of the timeline in a heartbeat. The = (main keyboard) zoom in on the timeline and - zooms out. Both act centered on the timeline.
All of this is in the Keyboard shortcuts Views section. It's amazing how helpful the user guide can be.
Whenever you start After Effects CC, you must then change the priority setting to high and then continue working. When you work in After Effects in a high priority, it won't get suspended. It will only when you are working with 4K or more K footage and you have lots of effects involved. If you don't have a professional graphics card, you might consider de-activating it and don't use Mercury hardware acceleration. Just use "Software only". This might be the cause of suspension, as well.
SHIFT+; (semi-colon) is the shortcut for view the entire length of a timeline. It's actually a toggle. It's Command (name) is Toggle Zoom Level.

ok so i can paste the mocha tracking from both video clips, then i want to link the face from video 1 to video 2. I am using the pen tool (should I be?) to go around the face but when linking that to the video it sort of follows the track data but not 100%, maybe too much movement in the video.
Maybe I am missing something or just doing it wrong way?
Did you check the "PNG Sequence" checkbox when you imported?
Also, use the checkerboard transparency view to determine if you have transparent elements in your composition.
In File->Import File, when you select the first file in the sequence, make sure the checkbox to import a sequence is checked.
If I follow you correctly you have one video with someone coming down some steps. You want to replace the face of that actor with video of another actor in another location. Here's the most logical way to approach that problem.
The best way to motion track the first actor and motion stabilize the second actor depend entirely on the footage. The re-timing accuracy of the motion stabilized actor depends on the final look you are going for. A few years ago I did this for a realistic face replacement of an actor that was running down a sidewalk with half of his face missing. We filmed the fake head while watching the original performance so we could get the timing of the head movement down correctly, then just followed the eight steps I outlined to replace the face with the fake head. You could not tell that the actor had not spent the better part of a day in a makeup chair getting prepped for the shot. I have also done face replacements that were not intended to look real. Same workflow, just a lot less time involved.

i'll move this topic to the general AE discussion board, but you should probably contact the newton's vendor support.
You need to spend some time studying video formats and standards. I would suggest spending some time with the User Guide. Rendering to suitable production formats is a basic production skill you should have. Your only problem is that you did not spend any time learning how transparency works in a video so you picked the wrong format.
Make sure you have a compatible version of After Effects installed and then follow the instructions in the Newton_3.0_Installation.pdf that comes in the Zip file. Make sure you selected the right platform. The Windows install is more complex than the Mac. If that does not work contact AE Scripts + AE Plugins and they should be able to help you. The plug-in is working fine on all my machines.

1 Draw on the video layer - it needs to be wide enough to be able to see a small bit of the green bars through (it's not critical how wide it is but, if at the end, the particles are starting too far away from the top of the keyboard you can always make it thinner).
2 To get Precomp 2 into the main comp select it in the Project Panel and drag it into the main comp
3 Start off the screen draw a line exactly along the top of the keyboard and off the other end of the screen, click and continue the line at a 90 degree angle to below the bottom of the screen, click and continue the line below the screen to the other end, click and making a 90 degree turn join the line to your first point. The only critical thing is the line running along the top of the keyboard, the rest can be really rough (not 90 degrees) as long as it is drawn in the area off the screen.

I would doubt After Effects supports SLI. I would recommend you disable SLI and launch After Effects.

I understand there are two GPUs in your machine, the built-in GPU and Nvidia GPU.
It is possible that one GPU may create conflict if both the drivers are not updated. It is recommended to update both the GPU drivers to the latest version. Please try and let us know the status.

I am confused with what you mean by "Precompose Precomp". Do I select both layers in Precomp and precompose those or do I have to go back to my Main comp, click on Precomp, and hit precompose? I know it might be a dumb question, but I'm still trying my best to learn After Effects.
