What frame rate is your composition set to?
Have you double-checked the settings if your Preview panel? It's possible your preview is set to be skipping frames. (You can have different settings for different Preview hotkeys!)

Timer that starts, stops and continues whenever I like it to
I'm currently into doing so-called "Line Distribution" videos - example here - for K-Pop music and I'm a bit clueless right now...
As seen in the video, there's a timer that counts up for the duration the singer Hwasa sings her first part (at 0:16) and then stops when she finishes singing (at 0:20). It continues to count up when she sings her second part (at 0:28) and again stops (at 0:31) when she finishes singing it. Same with the other members.
Initially, I've experimented with Premiere Pro's standard timecode, but that didn't gave me desired results. I can't really tell the timecode to stop at a certain point and resume where it stopped to continue counting - just like in the video above. Which leads me to... After Effects! Thanks to Rick Gerard, I stumbled across Dan Ebberts's Expressioneering Design Guide. However, I never played that much with Expressions before... I mean it works, but now what? How can I tell it to start, stop and resume whenever I like it to?
Any ideas/suggestions/tipps?

Applying corner pin to text layer makes text layer disappear?
Title, my opacity is all set to 100%, I've even tried removing layers to find it but to no avail, and yes it is in the correct area of the project, with it's corner pin keyframes. Can anyone help?

It appears when I make it an adjustment layer but I want to move it by making it a pre comp. When I make it a precomp it disappears and will not reappear as an adjustment layer.

Make you live easier, and apply magnify effect to your footage (you can search for it in effects & Presets window) than link their center point to the shape you create, and sure you can play with setting to get the result you want
Also related your last issue, simple create a mask to the adjustment layer with same size of your picture (the area where you want the magnify to work only), so when you go outside the picture the magnify will disappear

AE CS5 render time 3.75x faster then CC AME render time
Hi,
I just made the switch to Adobe CC and have a question.
I must admit that I was not keen on switching over but gave in as I needed better 10bit and HEVC support. I say was not keen because I have bought most of the versions of Adobe up to the CC and have found that AE CS5 is the most stable version (in my opinion) and use it over CS6 except when I need to stabilize footage.
The first thing I noticed is that AE CC version 15.1.2 does not support H.264 in Quicktime or .mp4 without going to AME. Ok I suppose I have the RAM to support running an additional program like AME although I would prefer to keep memory for AE especially when having alot of comps open or comps that are using 3D elements.
However my question is in relation to output render times of AE CS5 compared to AME CC.
In this test I sped up a 8bit 2min 4K short time lapse to 20secs exporting to .mp4 using the H.264 codec with a bitrate of 110Mbps and no audio
Render times:
AE CS5 = 4min
AME CC = 15min
Why is this? I have tried the CUDA and Software engines in AME but they are similar
What was CS5 doing that that made it quicker then what AME is doing?
Please do not reply with why h.264 is a dead codec or why you should use something else, this is just a question of render times between the two softwares using the same hardware.

Corner pin uses the layer size. When you add a Corner Pin to a text layer it assumes the layer is comp size and it works exactly as it should:
If your version of AE is up to date something like this when you apply the effect to a text layer. Corner pin is usually not applied to an adjustment layer. If you need to apply the effect to more than one layer the normal and most efficient workflow is to pre-compose.
There must be something else going on in your workflow. Details and a screenshot showing the modified properties of the layers that are giving you problems would help us figure out what's going on. Just select the problem layers, press the U key twice to reveal all modified properties and then PrintScreen and paste to the forum. Your bug is probably user error.

If you still can launch After Effects, you reset the preference settings and then try to uninstall it.
Reset preferences
To restore the default preference settings, press and hold the following keys while the application is starting.
- Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)

4.2ghz i7 iMac - brand new here with 40gb Ram also painfully slow.
AE terally struggling to swing a screencast on the Y axis, with a small amount of pan and scan and a voiceover for a couple minutes...
Come on guys, this kinda stuff should have been system heavy in 2006, not nowadays.....

Re: After Effects 15.1.2 crashing non-stop
I was hoping 15.1.2 might have some performance focus - as 15.1.1 seemed to be very much slower than previous versions.
Alas, what tiny shred of faith I may have had left for Adobe is gone after reading this thread.
Meanwhile, my professional livelihood revolves around After Effects - so the less performing it is the less food I can put on my table.
Maybe Adobe could slash it's prices to offset the declining performance of it's products, eh?

Expression to track Eclipse Path Position
Hi, I'll get straight to the point, I'm working on a project where im trying to track lines between dots like seen here: Connect Dots - Adobe After Effects tutorial - YouTube
I succeeded in what Evan Abrams did in his tutorial. Now I am trying to create something like effect on my own but I ran into some trouble.
Instead of tracking the standard position (that also moves the anchor point itself) I am now trying to track the Path Position (this moves the object AROUND the anchor point) as seen here:
This doesn't work the same and when try locking it to the "alt + stopwatch" (i have no clue what to call it, sorry) it shows somewhere in the upper left corner.
To cut the story short, I am basically trying to track the line between these dots, but it doesn't work because the anchor point itself doesn't move.
Do you guys have an ideas on how to solve this?
If you need more information please ask.

I do not think your system is powerful enough to run After Effects. You need atleast 8 gigs of RAM.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Upgrading your system or trying the application on a different machine is the only option.
