Totally agree with dariosaquetti. I love After Effects, it's been helping me put food on the table for over 10 years, but this needs to be changed.
Even with the current architecture, I'm sure an adjustment layer "breaker" layer would be possible. It would basically create a virtual precomp for everything below it.
A similar thing can already be done with 3D layers, you can "break" the layer order with, funny enough, an adjustment layer.
There are so many times pre-comping is just not efficient, also property links are too slow and hard to manage.
I've wanted this since day 1, still do, and I am not anti-precomp or something. Please!

Hi Rick, thanks for the quick reply.
I want to do a basic sharpening to the whole comp, but it also goes weird due to the soft matte. Strange that it only does it here has I've used it before in other comps and I've never had a problem with it, but I've never feathered to 200 pixels and put it on top of that.
I've included some screen grabs this time. Sorry for the crude watermark, but this is still a live project.
So, image 1 is just the bottom layer turned on.
Screen 2 has the matte painting layer turned on. I've opened the mask properties for you to see.
Screen 3 is what happens when I turn on the Unsharp mask. (There are two unsharp masks here, but even when I just use one it goes crazy like this.)

Different players show different "colors"
Martin told me too, if I created a movie for a online, I can work with a full color range (0 -255)

issue resolved...
several calls to Adobe Helpdesk-repeated disconnections and no callback, I might add - " you've only got 16gig RAM, you need more..." but it works on a lesser, older Mac...
Apple Helpdesk - hardware is ok - wipe and clean install of OS and Apps...
Decided to take small steps - uninstalled After Effects, reinstalled After effects - RESULT!!! all is well - thanks for your interest Foughtthelaw & Kevin.

It's got 26GB (6x4GB sticks and a couple of 1GB sticks).
My business partners using a 2015 MacBook Pro with only 16 GB though and his seems to be fine.

What is the exact version of CS6 you're using?
(Help menu > About After Effects - the full version number including all 'decimal places'.)
I have a copy of CS6 (11.0.4.2) running on Windows 7 / 64bit and can't reproduce this issue.

i read many pages of forum:
i try to uninstall and make a new installation of AfterEffects and after the CreativCloud: but it take 5/7 minutes to open After Effects;
i try to understand how to reinstall the Prores codec so i read that i must have QuickTime Pro, but i have, i read that i had to see in the Mac preferences the QuickTime but there is not.
Really i don't know what to do.
