Can't overwrite PNG file (3 :: 3)

I am having issues with an after effects multi-machine render of a PNG sequence, I keep receiving this set of errors....

I first get this window

Capture1.PNG

Then this after hitting OK

Capture2.PNG

Followed by this

Capture3.PNG

and this

Capture4.PNG

I'm pretty sure the last 2 windows are mostly irrelevant as they seem to be a result of the first 2. However, I wanted to show everything I am receiving.

This is a multi-machine render on a small render farm I recently built with 3 local PCs all connected to a NAS via a gigabit hub. In an attempt to trouble shoot I also attempted a virtual multi-machine render using BGrenderer on my best PC, and I am running into a similar issue, though it seems to take longer for the error to occur this way.

I collected 'ALL' the files to the NAS and I am trying to render to the NAS. While trouble shooting I also attempted a virtual multi-machine render via BGrenderer to a local solid state drive and still ran into this issue, so now I am stumped. I had assumed it was a limitation of my NAS but now having taken that out of the equation and still having the issue I am out of ideas.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed!!

These kinds of projects are best handled with several copies of your map and 3D layers. This makes a simple solid with a blur and a camera, light, and gobo (search Projector in AE). make the project a lot more efficient. With careful planning, it is seldom necessary to have a single image that is more than 2 or 3 times the comp size. You just resize, crop and duplicate so your timeline is not bogged down a single huge layer that only spends 2% of its time at 100% effective scale.

Also, you can do a much better job of scaling down images in Photoshop that you can ever do in AE so the quality will be better.

After Effects Novice: Stroke Effect Query

Hello,

I have created a stroke effect on some text which has the look of being burnt on to some wood.  I am trying to create a layer which will act as the burn effect that looks like it draws the text as it is revealed through out the composition. I believe this can be done using the stoke effect but I can't work out how to do set it up..

Thus far I have created a layer mask from some text, added the stroke effect and set it to reveal the image.

How do I create a layer that just shows a small portion of the text out line that will trace over the whole txt. Can anybody help?

Thank's

Chris

Hey, I have a client that wants their logo/text done similar to this: HomePod — Distortion — Apple - YouTube  It seems to be done with Trapcode Form, but I can't somehow get that liquid/wobbly distortion look :\ I've gone as far as getting the logo all setup in a Box - Grid, even have an audio file to react to but none of the parameters I play with seem to come close to the commercial effect. Is there a better way to do this?

I’m not sure what would make the pictures most life like/realistic video.

I’ve tried searching for something showing someone taking multiple still images and either using them in the same cinemagraph/parallax/slideshows it haven’t had any luck.

I don’t know the capabilities of either program. Or if what I’m trying to do is possible. My goal isn’t fancy, just want to compile some images to

transition seamlessly to make it like a true video .. and hopefully be able to create blinking or slight movement.

Is this possible with either program? the traditional slide show doesn’t work since it appears as if your flipping through a photo album.. hoping there is some way to make them appear more lifelike/recorded in the moment.

Would after effects do this? Can you use more than one image in a parallax? Do you have to have a small video clip to make a Cinemagrap? Sorrry for double posting and all the questions, I have zero experience with this and hoping for someone to let me know the capability of the programs.. I’m pretty good at self teaching but I want to be sure I don’t waste money or time on trying to make something that may not be possible.

Thank you!!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my problem Rick. At the end it was obvious that an effective way of resolving this was going to be really hard to get so I opted for a more practical solution. I remapped the flare rotating and looped the last spin to the end of the animation. I know this will haunt me in the future in another project but as of now that solution will suffice. I'm definitely going to look at Dan Ebbert's explanation on the subject, again. I had already read that page but in all honesty I didn't understand much. Maybe with a clearer mind I can grasp the concepts more easily, thanks again friend.

After Effects is a very complex application that really takes a long time to master, and needs constant use to stay sharp in, and requires access to and expertise in Photoshop and in my view Premier Pro.  if you want to take the time and money to do that go for it, just realize it's a long road..  If you only have one project in mind I'd look for someone who you could pay if you can't get what you want from one of the prosumer applications.

Premiere Pro is much faster to learn.

The honest answer to your question is to shoot video, stills are stills. Some fads come and go, the last one was to select mask, clone and make three layers, put them in 3D, then rotate a camera around them.  To me it just looks fake.  You want video, shoot video. That's what a friend would describe as "the dog poop facts of life".

Stills? You can move on them, or do other tricks.  CBS national news is doing some very interesting stuff now with selections, layers, filters, camera movement and other tricks with stills that looks good, watch that for ideas, but I suspect it's Ae work.  In my opinion in video something has to move in every frame.  It can be text, a soft pull, or a pan, but if something does not move it's a slide show.

It pretty much tells you what's wrong - your PNG source file is crooked. It may be damaged, have unknown metadata, color profiles or whatever. Convert it to another format and replace its usage in the project.

Not sure what you are having issues with. This simply seems to use the spherical field (with a negative force) a lot in addition to turbulence plus possibly simple transforms, all with heavily animated values for strengths and ranges. Otherwise one could of course go out of one's way to create custom displacement maps, but I really don't think it's necessary. By Apple's own strict standards this looks like a cheap 5 minute intern job, not a professional ad...

That isn't a source file it is an attempted render in an image sequence. It seems like the multiple machines are getting hung up on each other and not always skipping like they are suppose to. When I go into the folder and look at the PNG file that one of the machines gets this error on, it is complete and intact, presumably by another of the machines.  I'm at a loss.

Hello,

The initial action would be to reset the preferences to default. To do it, you hit the key below.

Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)

Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS)

Oh I agree it's a cheap intern job, the hard part on my end is figuring out what they used. I actually found how they did this and answered my own question haha: Under the Fractal Field --> Displace, separate the XYZ individually

I’ve found that multi-machine renders tend to work well when you’re rendering to a SAN.  And that’s about it.

When they go sideways and you’re burning through valuable render time to troubleshoot it, I find it works pretty well to set the Work Area to a different segment of the Comp on each machine, allowing the most powerful machine to to a longer segment.   So, machine one might do frames 0000 to 0499 while machine two might do 0500 to 0749 while machine three might do 0750 to 09999.  Each machine would go to local storage and then the resulting PNGs can be copied over to whatever type of shared storage is being used (SMB, AFS, NAS, etc.).

Re: How to tell what file is being used for proxy

Look the left of the file name in the Project panel.  If the file has a Proxy set, there will be a check box to the left of the file name.  If the Proxy is enabled, the check box is filled.  If the Proxy is disable,d the check box is empty.

Ideally, you would remove the proxy before deleting it.

Try to avoid deleting files linke to the project while the project is open.  Doing so can damage the internal file structure, causing a crash or crushing the project to become unusable.

If the project is closed, you should be fine deleting a Proxy file.  It will just show as missing when you open the project.

Sounds like you’ll need After Effects and Photoshop.

Dropbox supports storing AEP files just fine.

How long ago did you work with the AEP?  It may still show in Recent Projects.

You may have to locate each and every last AEP file on your computer and open them one at time.  Hopefully, one of them contains the source footage and Comp that was used to create your MP4.

If you used Adobe Medid Encoder, you may find the copy of the project that AME used to create the file if you check the temp location that AME put the project (it was probably the same location as the AEP file) for the temporary AEP or check the AME render log (File > Show Log File) to see if you can back track to where the MP4 came from.

Are you using Ease and Wizz? I found it locked my mask, after I removed it I was able to edit the mask again. I'm going to add it back on at the end
