Hello,
I am trying to understand how a particular effect popular during the last Winter Olympics was made. At lest it was on French TV reporting. More many disciplines, particularly acrobatic skiing and snowboarding, not only was there a slow-mo effect, but also some sort of "decomposition" of movement that depicted the athlete in several positions during a move, but cumulatively: Say that a move was decomposed into 6 key positions, each was freeze framed while the rest of the action was going on...so basically, there was a point at which the athlete was visible in six "positions" on the screen at the same time. Then those "host frames" vanish as the action shot nears the end and the video runs normally again.
I'm sure there's a name for that effect, but I just don't know what it's called or how it's done. can imagine freezing some frames and layering them over the " live footage" and masking, but as I saw the effect on action relays of live runs, I'm pretty certain there are much faster techniques and/or plugins that can do just that. In fact, I remember a similar effect being advertised recently for some software, I cannot remember (it may even have been photo rather than video software, that used a video to create such an effect for a still picture.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to how the effect is done, and whether there are shortcuts or plugins that would facilitate and speed up the process.
Thanks a lot
