Make sure you version of AE is up to date. If that does not solve the problem then we need details down to the last decimal point for your OS, software version and workflow. Screenshots of the full ui with the problems layers selected and their modified properties revealed will also help. Just press the u key twice, PrintScreen and then paste to this forum. It couldn't be easier to share. On a Mac Shift+Ctrl/Cmnd + 3 will take a screenshot then just drag it from the desktop to the forum. EZ as pie.. impossible to diagnose without details.

Download An obsolete version of AE
Good morning,
I'm working on a new Mac and i'm downloading with a licence I used in the old one
the last versions of the programs (cc2017).
I would like to keep using in the new Mac the old version of After Effects (cc2015):
Is it possible? If yes, What should I do?
Thanx in advance,
Gabriele Marchina
Re: Download An obsolete version of AE
Just make sure you check the options when you install newer versions. The default is to remove old versions. A careful look at the CC app will guide you to the options. You can also download any version by exploring the CC app once you have the first installation of AE or any other CC app.
All of this is in the Creative Cloud App documentation.
AE CC Error (86::1)
I'm trying to relink an AE CC 2017 project with photos and footage that had been moved.
I do the replace command and navigate to the missing file. When I click ok I get (86::1) which is After Effects error: Unsupported video bit depth in source file.
This project worked fine last November. No issues what so ever, now when I try and relink, it's not working
Anyone have an answer?
much appreciated
jack
Re: Download An obsolete version of AE
Do you still rent Adobe Creative Cloud? If no, you can not.
Re: Hi..
Unwrap to UV space via 3D model in AE?
One feature I miss a lot from Nuke is the possibility to bake a texture to UV space. Lots of great comp VFX are created this way.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to do this in AE. Plugin perhaps?
Configuring my new PC
I just purchased a new PC, largely for running After Effects. I now have 32 GB of Ram and 8 GB of on board graphics ram on the GeForce 1070 graphics card. Do I need to tell After Effects how much memory to use or will it figure it out on its own? If I do need to change some settings, which ones and what would you recommend I set them to be? Thanks.
Render glitch when using Echo effect
Hi! I'm rendering out a short looping animation in After Effects that uses the Echo effect, and I keep getting digital glitching in the last two seconds of the video (https://vimeo.com/231767989/ebec0aaae7). The video is made up of three pieces of animation drawn in Photoshop, each about 25 frames. The glitching looks like large blocks of horizontal lines that flash in and out. Any ideas how I might be able to fix this? Thanks!
Re: Unwrap to UV space via 3D model in AE?
This isn't possible in AE as it doesn't have any understanding of true 3d space or object space. The best way to achieve something like this is to export a UV pass from a 3d application and use a 3rd party plugin to apply a texture too it.
This one is my fav.
removing background and other animate objects from video
I am setting up a Halloween display for children. Last year, using projectors, I had my pumpkins telling jokes and singing songs. This year i would like to sync videos of those songs, so they show above the pumpkins. They are video's from the Just Dance series. I have seen people who have removed the various aspects of the videos and I am not sure how they do it.
IE:
Time Warp - Just Dance 2016 - Coop 10 Gemas Full Gameplay - YouTube
In the case of this video, I would like to remove everything but the dancers. This way they would appear to be dancing on the railing of my porch above the pumpkins, when projected onto a black screen. How would I go about removing the background, score, lyrics, energy bar and upcoming dance moves? If this is not a After Effects problem, let me know and I will gladly go to a different forum.
Thank you,
Will Allen
Re: 13.6.1 - After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {stuff not in the right sortdir}
I get this message too, every time I close AE. I'm up to date on everything. Working on a Mac Pro (trash can series). The files all seem fine. I just get the message.
Re: Render glitch when using Echo effect
I would check a couple of things:
1.- Try to empty your cache. Go to Edit > Purge > All memory and Disk Cache
2.- Go to File > Project Settings and under Video Rendering and Effects try to choose another option. Probably you have selected Mercury GPU Acceleration (CUDA/OpenCL). Choose Mercury Software only.
Once you check these 2 things, try to RAM preview your animation and check what happens.
Re: removing background and other animate objects from video
It is not an easy task that will involve a lot of rotoscoping work. If you don't need high quality masks, I suggest you to use the Difference Matte effect. I've seen that you have a clean plate (frame without dancers) at the beginning of the video. Freeze that frame and use the Difference Matte effect over the video with dancers. This effect extract all the elements that differ between the moving objects and the freeze frame BG.
Re: Render glitch when using Echo effect
1- Yeah, my first instinct was to empty the cache. That's worked for me with issues like this in the past, but didn't work this time.
2- My Video Rendering and Effects settings were set to Mercury Software only. I tried switching to both of the other settings: Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal) and Mercury GPU Acceleration (Open CL). They both showed improvements in the RAM preview, but when I rendered it out the same issue appeard.
Re: Mac Pinch Zoom in AfterEffects
I've actually NEVER had this much needed functionality with my Mac trackpad in AE. Pinch zoom has always worked (although WAY to sensitively) in Premiere's timeline, but never in AE, regardless of version or OS number. So if this is something that is supposed to work, Adobe has some MAJOR bugs in their input device coding in AE. That doesn't surprise me though, considering how many issues they've come across with Wacom tablets in AE and Photoshop over the past few years. I've only very recently begun giving 2017 a shot because of how much trouble it's been using my Wacom in anything post-2014.
Re: Social media dimentions
Thanks Dave,
I come from a print background so I am finding the conversion to animation a little confusing. It seems that Facebook and YouTube use an aspect radio of 16:9 (1280px being the max width) but Twitter prefers a radio of under 3:1... Does this mean that I have to create two files? Or is there a clever way of working around this.
Apologizes if this is a silly question.
All the best,
Christine
Re: Social media dimentions
Well, 16x9 translates to 1.78:1. So I suspect you're okay, because 1,78 is less than 3.
Re: Configuring my new PC
Under the "Memory" section of After Effects settings set it use three quarters of your 32gb of installed RAM.
Re: Configuring my new PC
Perfect. Thanks for the quick, clear and precise response!
