After Effects Animation Help!

$

I am making an animation within Adobe After Effects, which is nearly done, however, I do not want to waste time on this specific part (pictured) where the arm is parented with a static object.  Is there a way to animate the body while the arm just follows it, as if it were free moving?  At the moment the arm stays still and everything else moves.  I have tried parenting but to no avail.  Please help!

I have the same problem I think, and I checked that all of my pre-comps has the same frame rate. Still I get this glitch. See attached. I'm trying to figure out how to fix it, but haven't succeeded so far.. Very annoying. It's like this for one single frame and then gets back to normal

Can't import JPEG into After Effects? 86::1

I keep getting Bad Header Error 86::1 from same PSD file, TBH only started doing this recently, out of the 35-50 jpg images that come out of this PSD file for use in backgrounds some are getting this error. Now none will load. Been using same software AE 15.1.2 and PS CS6 for almost a year nothing changed in PSD, so IDK what to do? (I could save as other format but I want to know why its messing up.)

2018 AE suddenly really slow, not responding...

Hi All,

Had a sudden trouble while working with After Effects 2018, the program takes a long time to load up and even to respond.

On top of that I cant even load up media encoder.

I done several different ways to uninstall, reinstall, clearing memory cache for both programs and cleared all settings and removed

all plugins and personal settings. Windows is up to date and so are my graphic drivers.

Other adobe programs work fine, photoshop loads up immediately, even after effects 2017 boots up immediately.

I am at a complete loss in a way to fix this or how it happened in the first place.

I am using windows 10

i7 6700k

32 gb of ram

1070ti

I tried calling adobe directly but I never got through to anyone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After Effects Audio Spectrum Shows Nonexistent Sub Bass

$

Hi all,

I'm not too experienced with AE but I've been learning. I'm using a mirror effect to make the circle spectrum symmetrical like the trap nation style visualizer.

I can't get rid of the tiny little line at the top of my visualizer regardless of what I try.

It reacts to something, as it comes and goes as the video plays out, however, i know my music is highpassed around 32 hz, so nothing should be showing up there.

It really detracts from the videos clean and responsive aesthetic. How can I get rid of this?

I've tried putting a mask on like i did with the letters, but then it cuts out the glow and radial shadow beneath as well.

I've tried changing the start freq for the spectrum to anything between 1-1000 hz and it may disappear then but it will still be there at other parts of the song.

Is there a way to remove this? Any ideas?

Thank you!!!

Re: Pasting a second instance of an effect without replacing the existing effect

Firstly, a warning:  you shouldn't have two instances of Element on one layer.  The second copy of the effect will completely overwrite the first, so you'll only ever see the results of the second instance.  I can't think of a logical reason to have two instances on one layer, unless it's some kind of template structure in which you have on or the other instance turned on depending on some other factor.  You should generally have each instance of Element on discreet layers.

But to directly answer the question, you can save Element B as an Animation Preset in order to apply it without replacing Element A.

Or, you can add a null effect (like an expression slider) to the effect stack in front of Element B before you copy it.  When you paste, it will no longer replace Element A, ands you can simply delete the extraneous null effect.

Hi. I've no idea how you have ended up with Precomp 2 looking like that? At the top of this page dlui862 has three screen shots, the final one is what Precomp 2 should look like. It looks like you haven't set the Track Matte up (in either comp?) as per instructions:

Put the green solid below the video. You should see a TrkMat pulldown box beside the pickwhip symbol - if not press the Toggle Switches/Modes button at the very bottom of the screen and it should appear. Toggle the box open and select Alpha Inverted Matte. This will leave you with only green bars on a transparent background.

Then in Precomp2 you need to mask the keyboard out entirely (including the yellow line) and make the mask thinner and even. You need to copy/paste the mask onto the solid, and turn off the eye icon on the video layer - as per instructions:

In Precomp 2 turn on the eyeball switch beside the video - the video will reappear. Use the pen tool and draw a wide thin box just above the top of the keyboard - this is the area that the particles will appear from. Toggle open the video layer and you will see Masks listed. Select the heading "Masks" and copy it (Ctrl +C). Select the Green Solid layer and paste the mask (Ctrl + V). Turn off the eyeball for the video layer and you should have a thin slit which the green bars will move through with a transparent background.

If the error is caused by a stray frequency, you should be able to remove it with an audio filter, either in external audio software like Audition, or even just precomposing your audio layer inside After Effects, and applying a High Pass filter within the precomp.  Tweak the frequency setting until you get results.

If that doesn't work, a workaround would be to mask out the error and replace it with a masked piece of the waveform from elsewhere in the ellipse, so that the masked "hole" is replaced with a similar section of the spectrum waveform.

Can you post a screen grab of the save dialog(s) that appear when you save the Jpegs from your PSD in Photoshop?

Can you save Jpegs from other PSDs that work in AE?

So i have tried removing the frequency in ableton, and I've done the highpass within ae but didn't precomp it as tbh I'm not even sure how that works. I'll try it though.

I did also try to mask out the error but didn't try to replace it with a masked piece of the waveform, I'll need explaining for that if precomping doesn't work.

Thanks for your reply.

What can i do to resolve After Effects crashing during project render?

1. After Effects CC 2017 stops working After Effects CC 2017 stops working when i am rendering a project. I have cleared my cache, freed memory on the system and it still crashes. This just started recently. I have been rendering successfully for a while but this came out of the blues. What can i do?

2. Whenever i want to connect to the adobe servers to download or upgrade an app i keep getting error messages like: unable to connect to server. I am able to perform other browsing tasks on the site though. What am i doing wrong?

For some reason precomposing or not, whatever i do with the highpass doesn't change anything, whether it be on the song or the spectrum

I've realized it's not the sub, it's the top frequency. Is there any way to decrease the perceived height of the waveform at the highest frequency?

Perhaps with an expression, as the freq gets close to 700, the height decreases? Could you help me figure out how to write that?

Capture3.JPG

Here is the dialog, I use a script and action to save time. Whether I do it manually or with script it doesn't work. I am reinstalling AE right now so I cant test other PSD. But will as soon as it is done!

var doc = app.activeDocument;

var docpath = doc.path;

var activeLayer = doc.activeLayer;

var saveFile = File(docpath + "/" + activeLayer.name + ".jpg");

  saveJPG(saveFile, 10)

function saveJPG(saveFile, jpegQuality) {

  var jpgSaveOptions = new JPEGSaveOptions();

  jpgSaveOptions.embedColorProfile = true;

  jpgSaveOptions.formatOptions = FormatOptions.STANDARDBASELINE;

  jpgSaveOptions.matte = MatteType.NONE;

  jpgSaveOptions.quality = 7;

  activeDocument.saveAs(saveFile, jpgSaveOptions, true, Extension.LOWERCASE);

};

Hi, if you are actually editing then an NLE like Premier Pro is the program you should be using, and would solve your problems. After Effects is only intended to be used for making small clips/sequences which require special effects/graphics/compositing etc. and is hopeless with things like cutting and sound.

Hmm okay, using the same "save" different PSD it worked, so it maybe something in the PSD. I guess I will just built a new one!

UPDATE: YEP WORKS NOW! Created new PSD created jpgs from that and they went right in.

Do anyone know the reason, can a PSD just corrupt like that?

Exact same solution for me, I was very confused until I went to bluetooth and noticed the wireless keyboard was still connected.

Disconnected and problem solved.

The obvious culprit:  CMYK rather than RGB.
