Hi Kevin, no not as yet, it's really strange. Do you understand the problem? I'm not sure if using the playhead for this purpose is a common thing to do.
Do you know if this is a feature that has been tweaked so audio preview only works when an audio file is in the comp?

I was wondering if anyone can help or if anyone has experienced the same problem. Im not new to the adobe suite and After effects however I only recently started using Cinema 4D lite, I have done previous projects where I have modelled and animated basic scenes in Cinema 4D and rendered them through Cineware in After Effects with no problems. However, I have created a somewhat more complicated scene than previously and its refusing to render in After Effects, all views work and load except the Final after which my viewport goes black. I thought this might just be a playback issue or something, but when I try to render the blue loading bar comes up and the render never starts. Iv restarted my machine many times and even opened up the Cinema 4D file in a new After effects project with no success and the same issues. I was wondering if there is some kind of limit to what Cinema 4D lite will allow you to render through after effects? the scene Im working on has alot of reflections and glass textures and im not sure if this might be the problem? Im not very tech savvy so any help or insights would be appreciated. thank you

What is the shortcut for zoom in and out for the timeline, when u got and german keyboard and the german language on this keyboard? Just the change in Windows and add english dont change the keyboard it self and that means z=y so on. I need the zoom in and out keyboardshortcut for that specific situation.

I have made multiple slides and changed to image holders with no issue.
However i am now trying to alter the 'text holder' from 12 upwards. When i do so though, if i replace textholder_1 from slider 12 with textholder_12 it also alters slide 1 to contain text holder_12.
Any ideas what is effecting it?

I just made the shape layers overlap each other slightly in After Effects.
Was it like this when rendered or just in the application? Did you chexk you weren't using the 3D renderer or Fast previews?
We need more info of your C4D and AE files. It would be interesting if you could share some screen captures of your projects and maybe a preview of your final render/animation.
As Gutter-Fish says, what we need is to take a look at YOUR project, not the one on VC site.
It appears like this when rendered and in application. When I don't convert the Illustrator layers to shape layers and set the anti alias settings in the Advanced Options of the file to high quality everything looks fine. Only when I convert them to shape layers, the problem occurs.
Have you checked that the comp isn't using the Raytraced 3D Renderer?
Also, are all the Layer quality switches set to Best?
It sounds to me like you have made a complicated scene that takes a long time to render? Possibly with ambient occlusion and global illumination?
when you hit Shift-R in Cinema 4D to render to the picture viewer, how long does it take to render one frame?

I am having the same issue and I am confused about taking memory away. Do I lower the RAM reserved for other applications? Do I check the box where it says reduce cache size? 
Whenever I try to export my AE projects to media encoder, I get an error message.

Hi thank you so much for your reply! i dont have GI switched on but it does have AO....when i render to the picture viewer it takes about 15- 20 minutes to render one frame...Its driving me up the wall but i probably accidently pushed up something thats bumping up the render time. In after effects the loading bar has disappeared but the actual render hasnt started yet....its been 3 hours....
Yes, the comp is using the classic 3D renderer and the quality switches are set to best. The viewer resolution is set to full and best quality.
